Rat Queens Review by Madison R.

From Blaqk Door in Fort Bragg, California, our guest reviewer, Madison gives us the scoop on Image Comics' Rat Queens.- EG

If you like your women like you like your sweet compliant lemonade then Rat Queens is not the comic for you. Kurtis J Wiebe writes this comic too well for readers not to fall in love with it immediately.

This story is unique because, unlike having a woman as a soft minor character, Rat Queens has four strong, realistic sized, vulgar, smart ass female leads. This comic is jam packed with excitement, sex appeal, vulgar language and four women who are as hot as they are witty. It is a nice change to have, not only action and suspense in a book, but some comic relief mixed with sexual innuendoes and crude humor.
Although these lovely ladies are both deadly and brutal, killing anyone or anything that gets in their way, they love each other and care about one another with a certain warmness that only true friendships possess. Another great aspect of this book is that each girl has their own problems and stories to tell which allows you to feel close to each girl or a specific one you relate to.

Besides incredible writing that instantly hooks, the art is a huge turn on. Roc Upchurch's art depicts emotion very well and captures each character's personality and traits effortlessly. The style is clean and the color matches the scenes well. His art portrays tones of severity and tones of wackiness equally well. Rat Queens is for anyone who enjoys good writing, art, and jokes.
