Image Comics burst onto the scene 20
years ago, and gave the rest of the comics industry a run for its
money. One of the creators responsible for forming that explosive
upstart was Erik Larsen. Erik's iconic work on mainstream titles
such as Spider-Man, Punisher, Doom Patrol, and Marvel Comics Presents
made becoming a huge hit at Image a sure thing. He wrote and
illustrated the Savage Dragon mini-series and followed it up with a
regular Savage Dragon title that is still in publication today.
I had a chance to speak with Mr. Larsen
and as usual, I was a big fanboy about it. We talked about his
breakout work in self-published comics and being brought in to work
for Marvel by Editor-In-Chief, Jim Shooter.
Comic Reviews Outside The Cube is
sharing the conversation with you. We want to celebrate
Image Comics' 20th Anniversary by bringing you a laid back
interview with one of today's most well known creators. We suggest
you kick back and give it a listen. And when you're finished, run
out and pick up a copy of Savage Dragon #181. It's a damn good read
and just keeps getting better.
